Project Location:
Ghana
Project Introduction:
The Upper West Region of Ghana is located in the southern part of the Sahel and belongs to the semi-arid region south of the Sahara. The annual precipitation is sparse and can be divided into rainy and dry seasons. Due to the lack of stable electricity supply, local rural community residents face great difficulties in providing water supply during the dry season.
Solution:
In February 2024, solar centralized water supply system project was installed and officially put into operation in a rural community in the suburbs of Wa, Upper West Region. This project is funded by Qatar Charity and implemented by Solartech Ghana partner.
The project selects 4 sets of PB-G3 series 1.5kW solar surface water pumps from Solartech, powered by a unified PV array to save equipment procurement cost.
The system also has backup grid power supply and prioritizes the use of solar power generation to meet the requirement of 24-hour operation of water pumps.
Social Benefits:
The successful operation of this project not only ensures that residents in the community have convenient access to clean drinking water, but also save a significant portion of electricity expenses for water supply.
