Solartech Attended the 1st ASEAN Development Forum, Opened Discussions of China-ASEAN Solar Water Conservancy Cooperation
The 1st ASEAN Development Forum sponsored by Xinhua News Agency Asia-Pacific Branch was held grandly on 13 Dec in Hong Kong. Government officials, experts and scholars, and businessmen from ASEAN, Hong Kong and China attended this forum, delivered speeches on common concerned topics and held a heated discussion on the theme of “Increasing mutual trust, building community of interests”. As a pioneer of solar water conservancy in China, Solartech has made great contributions to the development of solar water conservancy in ASEAN countries, and was honorably invited by this forum to explore the promotion and applications of the world’s most advanced solar pumping technology by Solartech with ASEAN dignitaries, experts and scholars.
ASEAN is the largest neighboring association of nations to China. The close cooperation between China and ASEAN is a good model of cooperation relationships in East Asia region. After ten years of "Golden Cooperation", China-ASEAN relations have entered a new historical stage, marching toward a deeper and wider mutually beneficial strategic partnership. Building upgraded version of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, achieving a greatly strengthened connectivity, creating “Diamond Decade” China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership, are the common political wills of China and ASEAN countries as well as common aspirations of all peoples in this region.
Agriculture is a major part of the ASEAN economy. Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam are the world's three main barn. Malaysia, Indonesia are the world's largest 2 palm oil producers, Thailand is the world's largest rubber producing country and Vietnam is a most important coffee producing country in the world second only to Brazil. With sufficient sunshine, these countries in ASEAN region have unique advantages in promotion and applications of solar water pumping systems. ASEAN has always been the most important area of Solartech solar pumping systems. Up to now, Solartech solar pumping systems have been applied in Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand and Philippines and other countries, successfully. Solartech solar pumping systems are widely used for drinking water and irrigation water in Thailand, and also have great market potential in the field of solar water desalination. In addition, there are wide applications in spices and organic rice cultivation in Cambodia, bananas and sugar cane irrigation in Philippines, modern farm irrigation management in Vietnam and daily drinking water projects in Myanmar. Solartech solar pumping system is the key to the ASEAN historical problem of seasonal and regional water shortages caused by irrigation power supply shortages due to uneven development in infrastructure constructions, hereby accelerates the comprehensive process of industrial economy restructuring from smallholder agriculture to modern agriculture.

At the forum, the former Thai Deputy Prime Minister and president of Thai-China friendship association,Mr. Gong Thapa Sai said that China and ASEAN countries shall work together to make full advantages of the abundant natural resources, creating a peaceful and prosperous ASEAN to benefit the next generation. He affirmed the role that Solartech played in solving worldwide food crisis and ecological deterioration by creating and developing solar water conservancy. He introduced Thailand as an agricultural country and a nation with many islands for tourism, and there are mass requirements of solar pumping system in Thailand.

Solartech President Mrs. Liu Aiping introduced to Prime Minister Gong Thapa Sai and his wife with Solartech solar pumping system, which utilizes the solar energy to drive pumps to produce water, eliminating the largest biggest obstacle in agriculture and ecological development. Mrs. Liu Aiping also introduced the successful application projects of Solartech solar pumps in both agriculture and daily drinking water in Thailand. With 80% of population engaged in agriculture, Thailand enjoys the title of “The Granary of South East Asia” as is the only one net exporter of grain in Asia and one of the main grain exporters in the world. Nowadays, new varieties of aquatic products, animal by-products, fruits, vegetables and other horticultural plants have become the pillar industries of Thailand’s agriculture. Thai Agriculture Bureau of Economy issued an assessment report that the rise of diesel price has big impact on the production cost and price, peasants’ income and consuming capacity. Thailand is famous traveling country with many islands, where fresh water is very precious and has a high transportation cost among these islands, and there are vast demands of solar seawater desalination system. The application of solar pumping system in Thailand reduced the agriculture production cost and brought down the pollution level caused by from fossil fuels used by diesel generator. There is remarkable economic and social benefit of solar pumping system application in modern agriculture planting, husbandry, irrigation and seawater desalination.

It’s great honor that Mrs. Yang Xiuping, the Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN, have met with the Solartech president Mrs. Liu Aiping on the forum. Mrs. Liu Aiping introduced great details of Solartech solar pumping system applications in ASEAN and over 100 countries globally in solar water conservancy field, and the award of 2014 UN “Global Human Settlements Model of Green Technology”. Mrs. Yang Xiuping pointed that in order to maintain the cooperation advantages of China-ASEAN strategic partnership in the following decades, both parties must grasp the trend and main thread, develop new economy and innovative industry, and enlarge common market and regional industry chains.
