Project Location:
Nord-Ouest, Haiti
Project Introduction:
The Nord-Ouest province in northwestern Haiti is rich in bananas and coffee. Due to the constraints of water supply and irrigation conditions, in the dry season, farms that rely on rainfall for natural irrigation face the difficulty of water shortage for irrigation.
Solution:
In January 2023, on the outskirts of Jean Rabel in the northwest of Haiti,
Solartech solar and diesel engine complementary power supply water pumping system project was installed and officially put into operation. The project is used to provide water and irrigation to 40 hectares of banana fields in the local farm. This project uses
PB-G3 Smart Pro series 11kW solar pumping inverter and
full stainless steel submersible water pump. The total dynamic head is about 22 meters, and daily water supply reaches 520 cubic meters per day. During the day, the power supply for the operation of the whole system comes from the solar system. When needed at night, the backed up diesel generator can be automatically switched to supply power.
Social Benefits:
After the project is put into operation, it not only effectively solves the water supply and irrigation of the banana fields, but also promotes the application of photovoltaic energy in Haiti, reduces the consumption of fossil energy such as diesel, and guarantees the income of local banana farmers.
