UNCCD COP15 Side Event was held on in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, on May 16, 2022. The theme was "
Solar empowers land and People from scarcity to prosperity Integrated Solutions for water, food and ecosystems”.
At present, the world, especially in arid areas, is facing severe challenges such as water shortage, land degradation, food crisis and energy shortage. The side event brought together relevant government departments, international NGOs, scientists and entrepreneurs from all over the world to provide advice and suggestions for the cause of global sustainable development.

Solartech attended the side event and advocated the use of
solar water pump to empower land and people and develop solar water conservancy industry. At the main venue in Côte d'Ivoire, Solartech introduced the innovation of solar pumping technology and its application and promotion in more than 130 countries around the world to on-site and online participants through practical application cases such as solar desert control in Morocco, solar water-saving irrigation in Niger, living water supply in refugee camps in Sudan and solar livestock raising in Botswana, etc.

The side event was held based on the MOU of "Renewable Energy for Ecological Restoration and Sustainable Livelihood" signed by the UNCCD Secretariat and the Research Center for Energy Transition and Social Development of Tsinghua University. Tsinghua University has established an UNCCD cooperation project team. In September 2020, TONEWEI GROUP, LONGi, Shenzhen Solartech and other companies, Desert Forestry Experimental Center of CAF, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of CAS, The Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources of CAS and other institutions signed the multilateral Mou of "Renewable Energy for Ecological Restoration and Sustainable Livelihood" with the Research Center for Energy Transition and Social Development of Tsinghua University.
