Food shortage, output decreasing and rapid cost rising result in the unprecedented global food crisis of the last 40 years. According to the latest data, because of natural and man-made disaster, the world faces huge food crisis, there are 40 countries are in urgent need of international food aid. 29 countries are facing astonishing or even extreme level of hunger. Nearly one billion people are in the condition of malnutrition. Ensuring the food security becomes one of the most priority of the world. Not only it concerns the stability and development of China but is also with great significance to the well development of global economic society. The United Nations caught up with a slogan “facing the crisis, achieve food security”. The most important factor restricting the food production, pasture restoration, livestock is ineffective water supply. Agricultural irrigation is also limited by water supply. As per the statistic data from The World Association of Irrigation and Drainage, 18% of Arable land produces 40% food in the world. Irrigation problem should be prior to food problem. Irrigation is not available without water, therefore solving irrigation power is to solve the problem of irrigation. There are many arid area without electricity in the world, traditional method of irrigation is not convenient because of transportation, power supply and high cost etc. Power supply becomes one of the restriction factors for the development of local agriculture. From this point of view, solving the problem of power supply will be a breakthrough of global agricultural development.

Compared with traditional power generation system, SOLARTECH solar pumping system has many obvious advantages. Firstly, we don’t use storage battery that is short life, high price and would cause secondary pollution. SOLARTECH system, with high stability and high power, just needs to store water instead of storing electricity and drives the pump to extract water directly. on one hand,The system lowers the cost of construction and maintenance, on the other hand it avoids investing in storage battery and its replacement. Secondly, solar pumping system does not need grid but is powered by solar energy, so it can extract water continually with affluent solar radiation and plenty of water resource. Solar pumping system installation is simple, installation period is short, no need to invest in grid base station. Thirdly, SOLARTECH solar pumping system has the advantages of long life and automatic operation, no operation fees, suited for poor areas. Besides, nobody needs to be arranged to guard by the systems during operation which meet the needs of remote area or area without man. Solar pumping systems have been widely used to agriculture field in more than 100 countries and areas. Practice shows that solar pumping system is one of the best methods of agriculture irrigation, it improves the agricultural production efficiency, stabilizes grain production, alleviates economy burden for farmers, obviously promotes life quality of residents; and it is beneficial to social stability and economic development of the country or areas, as well is the important measure for energy saving and environmental protection.
In the past more than 10 years, SOLARTECH has been providing solar pumping systems to many countries and areas in the world and solar pumping systems have been successfully applied to agriculture and forestry irrigation, desert control, pasture animal husbandry, living water supply, sea water desalinization, city waterscape and so on. Agriculture irrigation is one of the main applications and the systems for agricultural irrigation. It has been installed in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, China, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Turkey, Syria and other countries and regions in the Middle East. Wherever SOLARTECH solar pumping system has been installed, it always helped customers to solve the problem of irrigation pumping power successfully. It has created considerable financial benefit and social benefit for the customers’ country and has acquired the customer's consistent good comments at home and abroad.
Pakistan is a country of agriculture, 70% of its population are engaged in the work related to agriculture. With the reduction of energy, it’s very costly to use 3-phase diesel to power the pump and the maintenance fee is also very high. Diesel is noisy and cause severe environmental pollution and need oil reserves which exists some potential danger. Speaking of energy crisis Pakistan is facing now, former president Musharraf said that Pakistan is facing serious energy crisis and is eager to seek proper ways and partners to solve the current energy problem, also he added that Pakistan is a country of population and agriculture, developing modern agriculture and improving the production efficiency is the prerequisite and guarantee of all-round development of the economy. In 2009, Pakistan adopted SOLARTECH solar pumping system PS7500 which generates 14,600 kWh every year, during it’s 25-year service life, it saves about 137.2 tons of coal, and reduces emission of 60.4 tons of CO2, 2.75 tons of SO2, 2.06 tons of ash.
Replaced traditional irrigation mode like thermal power and diesel with green energy with solar energy and, to utilize green pollution-free stand-alone photovoltaic pumping new energy technologies to implement energy conservation and emissions reduction , it saves government a large investment in grid building. No electricity cost, no diesel and no maintenance fees , it not only improves the agricultural production efficiency, but also alleviate peasant economy burden, promote life quality of local residents. Solar pumping systems have been vigorously promoted by the government at the current stage which will eventually make Pakistan realize agricultural modernization.
Agriculture is one of the economy's mainstays in Zimbabwe, agricultural output value accounts for about 20% of gross national production, 40% of export revenue is from agricultural products, 26% of employed population are engaged in the work related to agriculture. Zimbabwe takes the responsibility of being barn in the south of Africa. Relying on wether is still a prominent problem in Zimbabwe agriculture. Because of lacking of water resource, even the production of big commercial farm with better agricultural infrastructure is seriously limited by rainfall, let alone the broader backward region where it works in the traditional way. Once suffer from drought, agriculture production will decline sharply and affect the national economy. Therefore, irrigation is an important way to boost the production increase, to guarantee food safety, to increase income and to accelerate economic development.
In September 2012, a large farm in Mashonaland West province, Zimbabwe purchased SOLARTECH solar pumping system PS550-3 which has been put into operation since October 2012. The irrigation area is about 4.5 acres and drip irrigation equipment was adopted to 4 acres of it. Every day, 30 cubic meters of water is drawn up into a 6-meter high water tank from a 19-meter depth well. These water is used to water lettuce, green pepper, oilseed rape, cabbage, spinach, tomato, beans etc. At present, this family farm is supplying cheap and fine green crops to the local residents. Apart from being used in the application of water-saving irrigation, the system is also supplying clean water for 4000 chickens in the farm. The system PS550-3 generates 2600 kWh annually and during it’s 25-year service life, it can save 24.7 tons of coal, and reduce emission of 10.9 tons of CO2, 0.5 tons of SO2, 0.37 tons of smoke dust and 6.5 tons of ash.
“The World Development Indicators in 2011” issued by world bank shows that one cubic meter water can add one dollar to domestic production of Zimbabwe. In it’s 25-year service life, the irrigation water amount powered by solar energy will be more than 270,000 cubic meters.
SOLARTECH solar pumping system, with wide power range, is the first class technology with superior quality and perfect service, has attracted the attention of many consumers. The electricity is quite expensive and unstable which is the current situation of gird in Zimbabwe. In this case, solar irrigation has more competitive advantages. The cost for the entire system can be covered in about 3 years to 5 years. Solar irrigation not only provides cheaper food, but increase the income of farmers, the owner of the farm was so pleased to introduce to other visiting farmers who also want to try solar pumping system on their own farms. It consumes less water, less land and less resource while increasing the food production and agricultural output value. SOLARTECH solar pumping systems has helped local photovoltaic family farms to develop in a sustainable way.
Turkey is a farming and herding country whose agriculture production accounts for about 20% of domestic production, farming population accounts for 46% of the entire population. Turkey has about 241.920 square kilometers of arable land. The main planting crops include wheat, barley, corn accounting for 75% of arable land. Cash crops like cotton, sugar beet, tobacco, sunflower, peanut, potato and other kinds of beans account for 25% of arable land. There are over 27 millions of all kinds of fruit trees across Turkey. Konya, the capital of Konya province, locates in the south central of Anatolian plateau, is the leading center of agricultural district facing Konya basin. With the economy development, Konya has become the largest city in Konya basin. The climate of Konya is quite dry, and the annual rainfall is often less than 300 mm, hence the water shortage becomes the restriction of local agricultural development. How to solve the problem of irrigation water shortage become the first priority. In 2012, SOLARTECH solar pumping system PS370 was adopted as the main measure to solve irrigation water problem in Konya.
