Recently, a 26kw solar water pumping system was implemented officially in Longmen village, Yunnan Province. So far, it is the largest solar water pumping system application in China, even in Asia.

 

There are 523 households and 2,435 residents in Longmen village, Yao Nationality accounts for 97.6% of the village population. In 2008, Government implemented a development project of engineering construction to support Yao area, which is permitted and instructed by President Hu directly. Several years later, the residents’ life has improved a lot. While this area has suffered severe droughts during recent three years, more than 90% of the households are located in rocky and remote area with few water sources. The vast majority of people collected rainwater by digging ponds in the open ground, Water shortage is a serious issue. At the drought seasons in winter-spring, residents have to get water 2-3 miles away from the village after using up water in reservoir. Without doubt, water drinking problem become more and more serious for this area.

Solar  pumping system was applied to solve the water problem in Longmen village, utilizing Solartech PS26K solar water pump system. During the installation, engineers got over the difficulties of transportation, base installation, cable erection, water pump installation location positioning. Project installation completed and put into use in June 2013.

In this water pumping project, water is pumped vertically from 300meters and delivered at 2900meters horizontally. River water under the mountain is delivered to water reservoir in the top of mountain by water pump and supplied to village households by pipe networks. Using solar water pumping system, it solved the water drinking problem of more than 800 residents and 330 giant livestock, providing a good water guarantee for the Yao people's production and living.
